EDITORIAL.- The keys that open the gates of palaces, churches, courtrooms and hospitals are small, but they release the heavy leaves so that the exterior can penetrate and renew the stale density of the stagnant air.
And it is that we will not tire of saying to what extent the small gestures sometimes suppose great advances, stranded in the history of some groups. And that is what we have recently experienced with a bureaucratic process that may have gone unnoticed for many, but that for others will be a turning point in the path of recovery of dignity and the conquest of happiness .
We are referring to the information that came to us a few days ago about the fact that the Generalitat de Catalunya has recognized for the first time the transsexuality of a girl in her health card. Something as simple as adapting the name of the document to the gender felt by the minor that in this case was the feminine.
It was the parents who requested the change in the document based on the article 23 of the Law against homophobia, biphobia and transphobia that in its statement makes clear the responsibility of the Public Administration to ensure that right: "In the field of Public Administrations of Catalonia, especially in the educational and university, have to establish by regulation the conditions for Transgender and intersex people are treated and named according to the name they identify, even if they are minors.
The petition was collected by the Area for Equal Treatment and Non-Discrimination of LGTBI Persons of the Department of Social Welfare that processed the claim urging the Catalan Health Service (CatSalut) to start the procedure that would allow the name change on the card. From the Social Welfare team they have pointed out that, "Measures and actions like these help to achieve full legal and social equality of the group, while contributing to its normalization." After knowing the news, the Generalitat has received a minimum of 10 requests to manage similar procedures.

The marginalization, isolation and extreme suffering that is reflected in the film, very daring indeed to have been shot in 1976, have not yet been eradicated from our society. And also precisely today, in the Assembly of Madrid, the Comprehensive Law of Transsexuality is voted on, which we hope will receive majority support. There are still many battles to be fought, such as the disappearance of waiting lists in sex reassignment surgery, but when the parents of a girl of 10 years proudly present a card with which that little girl feels identified, this world, our world will be a little better and more livable.
