"When We Rise", the LGTB + series of 2017

The series will premiere next February in ABC

GAYLES.TV.- «When We Rise» will undoubtedly be one of the productions that will give the most talk in 2017. The American chain ABC bet strongly with this series of 7 chapters created by Dustin Lance Black, screenwriter of «Milk«. Based on the eponymous book by the activist Cleve Jones, will treat the past, the present and the future of the movement LGTB +. A review of the collective's history and rights that will have four different directors.

The filmmaker Gus Van Sant will be in charge of directing the two-hour premiere that is scheduled to air in February 2017. The second and third episodes will be directed by by Dee Rees, the fourth and fifth by Thomas Schlamme and the last two for Dustin Lance Black. Riots of Stonewall at 1969, considered the beginning of the struggle for community rights LGTB +, are the starting point of «When We Rise»Which focuses its argument on the movement's struggle in United States along the history. Based on real stories of families, the series addresses some of the most significant moments such as Stonewall, the approval of equal marriage or the case of Pat Norman (Whoopi Goldberg), the first openly gay employee of the Department of Health of San Francisco.
