NEWS.- Last week was held in Caracas the first "National Congress for the Human Rights of Diversity Sexual ”which has brought together representatives of 335 municipalities in the capital. The objective of the Congress, according to its organizers, is the full visibility of all forms of sexuality and the recognition of the inherent rights of the person regardless of their gender and sexual orientation. Of course, all of this involves promoting public policies of inclusion in favor of sexual diversity and equal marriage.
In statements to the program "The Breakfast" of the Venezuelan television chain, the delegate of the Congress Leandro Viloria has stated: «The objective is to open the debate to the range of issues that affect sex-diverse people. We are promoting a sexual revolution within the Bolivarian Revolution, responding to the call of the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, who invited all the groups to unite in one voice, achieve an organization and articulate ourselves to consolidate ourselves as a sex-gender force -diverse of the left and fight politically and socially ».
We sincerely welcome the position expressed by the President Nicolás Maduro and we hope that the outcome of this Congress will be a concrete step forward in Venezuelan legislation with respect to LGTBI rights. Much has rained since the creation of the first LGBT fighting movement in Venezuela, the so-called Group understood in 1978 followed by the Environment Movement in 1993. The acronyms have been changing and we have seen the Venezuelan Gay Revolutionary Movement become the United Socialist Bloc of Homosexual Liberation.
