GAYLES.TV.- The appearance of the poster of "Silencio", the latest film by Pedro Almodóvar, reveals new details of a film whose shooting, which started the May 6 with a forecast of 12 weeks, is coming to an end. In the poster they appear Emma Suarez and Adriana Ugarte, two new contributions to the universe of women of Almodóvar. Both interpret Julieta, the same woman in youth and maturity, a period spanning 3 decades, from 1985 to 2015. In the words of the filmmaker in relation to that split role: "I do not like the excessive makeup jobs to age or rejuvenate actors; I prefer two different interpreters and play with the imagination of the spectator ".
Almodóvar defines the story as a gloomy drama of a feminine universe with few options for humor. “Three decades of a woman marked by pain, abandonment and a series of transcendental trips in her biography, because on each trip she abandons someone important in her life or something important in her life. And among all, an essential abandonment: that of his adolescent daughter, whom he inexplicably leaves behind, for no known reason. Suddenly, someone who is everything to you, just ignores you. The silence of the title refers to that of the mother first and that of the daughter later ”. Explains the director.
In this film, Almodóvar radically changes his usual landscape. The mesetary horizon gives way to mountains and cliffs of Galicia, the Sierra de Huelva and the Aragonese Pyrenees, where just some sequences have just been shot. After returning from the shoot Pedro wrote on the page of the production company "The desire": We've been through a lot of heat, a lot of vertigo, a lot of fear and a lot of pleasure when we finish the last shot of this meeting at the top. "
At the moment no date has been set for the premiere of what is the return to work of the director from La Mancha after the forced break that involved a quite complex back intervention and the long rehabilitation that has not yet finished. "Physically, I did not see myself able to shoot. The operation caused me much more insecurity than I already have. But, for better or for worse, I realized that something else is not my thing. I want to keep rolling; it relieves me and at the same time it condemns me; I like it or not, things are like that. "
