Recycling is gay

A study from Pennsylvania State University reveals that many men avoid recycling as “feminine” behavior.

GAYLES.TV.- We read with amazement a piece of news that reveals that many men avoid recycling because they consider it a “feminine” behavior, that is, so as not to appear gay. And who publishes it is Pennsylvania State University in a study titled “Gender Bending and Gender Conformity: The Social Consequences of Engaging in Feminine and Masculine Pro-Environmental Behaviors.” (Gender and gender compliance: the social consequences of participating in female and male pro-environmental behaviors.)

Tricky but true. This news that apparently would be a banal summer gossip, is actually the finding of a tragedy: that homophobia added to the stupidity of a misunderstood masculinity, that is, toxic, would be contributing to destroy the planet. If it seems exaggerated, we offer you study data that support the statement.

And most of the participants in the study prefer not to assume behaviors such as using reusable bags, recycle, control the air conditioning or hang clothes instead of using the dryer, because they perceive them as "Markedly feminine" and they fear that it leads others to think that they are gay. Because it is already known that being clean, tidy and caring for the planet is ladybugs. The nursery and waste of resources have always been very male.

In a more delicate way the professor of Psychology and coordinator of the study Janet K. Swin notes that “Taking on certain behaviors in favor of the environment can have subtle consequences related to gender. There may be people who avoid certain behaviors because they anticipate, with a gender bias, what others might think of them. Or that they avoid them if they think they don't fit their gender. (…) If a person considers it important to be perceived as heterosexual, he may prioritize gender-conforming behaviors over those that are not, trying to anticipate the impression that it may cause on others "says Swim.

According to the magazine "Out"In the study, a total of 960 participants - men and women - were asked to indicate whether a list of fictional characters seemed "feminine" or "masculine." These characters performed a series of activities beneficial to the environment and participants had to make their assessment on a scale of 10, from heterosexual to homosexual. Well, according to Dr. Swin “The participants perceived all the characters as more feminine, regardless of their behavior, which reflects the tendency to consider environmentalism as a feminine movement”.

So we look hair. Either we begin to educate in the equality of behaviors and roles, or we are going to load the planet because children, in addition to not crying, must be dirty and not recycle.
