"Rara" wins the Horizontes Latinos prize of the Festival of San Sebastián
GAYLES.TV.- The Chilean opera prima Pepa San Martín It is being recognized in various festivals. In its world premiere it has already received the Jury Grand Prix at the Berlinale and now it's done with the Horizontes Latinos Award the prestigious Film Festival San Sebastian, in addition to winning the prize Sebastiane that distinguishes the best film LGTB the contest.
The tape is inspired by the judge's case Karen Artala who lost the guardianship of his daughters in 2003 for living with his lesbian partner. The story caught the attention of Pepa San Martín who together with Alicia Scherson spun a script that has seduced the jury of Donostia. One of the keys to success is to tell the story from the point of view of Sara, the eldest daughter of 13 years. The jury has awarded "the courage to give visibility to a non-traditional family through the eyes of a girl". The film proposes a "reflection on sexual discrimination at a social and individual level, due to inherited prejudices". "Rare"Is starring the actress Mariana Loyola like Sara's mother (Julia Lübbert) and Cata (Emilia Ossandón). Completes the distribution of this Chilean-Argentinian co-production Agustina Muñoz, Daniel Muñoz, Coca guazzini, Sigrid Alegría y Micaela Cristi.
