EDITORIAL GAYLES.TV.- "Orlando furious" is an epic poem written by Ludovico Ariosto in the 1532 that gave rise to the opera of the same name Vivaldi. Curiously, the epic theme and the combats that star the heroes of the poem are centered in the historical struggles between Moors and Christians. Always the same chant, 5 centuries later we continue to justify, channeling, telling the story from the perspective of the confrontation between creeds and go to know who takes advantage of all this.
And while in the storage room are the hidden, brutal motives, which triggered the spring of fury, blood and fire. Because we will never know what it was that really Omar Mateen to sow Orlando's festive night of corpses, to vomit his guilt and hatred on the young bodies whose only sin was to celebrate life.
And is that from the beginning something has not finished to square in all this history and the motives of the murderer. Islamic State on Sunday he limited himself to applauding Omar's action but did not claim it in the first instance. Already on Monday, in a statement through his radio station, he claimed responsibility for the attack, stating that Mateen "was one of the soldiers of the caliphate in the United States." After all, Mateen wasn't going to disprove that claim. It is true that before committing the massacre, he made an emergency call swearing loyalty to the Islamic State, perhaps he thought to make sense of so much death and incidentally buy a last minute ticket to paradise. Despite this, the president himself Obama in his appearance before the media, he said: "He announced his adhesion to the IS at the last minute, but there is no proof at the moment, that it was directed by them".
Of what, curiously, there is proof, is the possible repressed homosexuality of Omar. Several witnesses have claimed that Mateen went to the Pulse club a dozen times and was a regular user of apps to link between homosexuals like Grindr. His own ex-wife has assured that Omar had homosexual tendencies and to top it off it seems that the father, who on the same day of the massacre declared that his son hated homosexuals, had insulted him by calling him gay in public on several occasions.
Something smells rotten in Orlando. The confirmation of the theses that endorse the jihadist motives may have a specific weight in the advance of Donald Trump on their way to the presidency and IS assumes a free terror plus. But the truth is that the arguments of guilt increasingly weigh on unfulfilled desires, for a denied homosexuality, for the poison of an internalized homophobia that sows the self-hatred of who refuses in the most intimate.
How many potential Omar walk the world with the slab of guilt in the heart? How many are flagellated on the altar of denial and fanaticism unable to accept what they feel and who they are? It matters and much to get to the bottom of this question and put on the table any hint that helps to clarify Mateen's motives, because that hatred towards oneself ends up turning against others, against life and responsible are also those who inoculate it as a heart lonely and confused.
Respect for diversity is the only antidote against the poison of internalized homophobia and we should vaccinate massively against it because who does not learn from history is forced to repeat it.
