New homophobic aggression in Madrid

New homophobic aggression in Madrid

NEWS.-  Two young people from 17 and 23, were attacked last Friday by a group of 12 Nazis, 11 boys and a girl, while resting with a friend on a bench in the park of the Temple of Debod in Madrid.

According to Manuel I., the young man of 17 years, the members of the group that were attacked were dressed in black and with military boots as marked by the canons of neo-Nazi aesthetics. After stealing the bottle of rum they were sharing and throwing it at them, breaking it two meters from where they were, they rebuked them saying,  "Are you anti-fascist? What club are you going? ". Then they returned to the charge, "Are you queers? What T-shirts are you wearing, fags? What do you put on your shirts? ", assures that they were questioned.

They then pushed the oldest boy and went after the youngest, who was kicked in the back of the neck causing a serious contusion to the neck, another kick in the left eye that caused blurred vision for several hours and several punches in the face. The couple's friend was able to flee. When they managed to get away from their attackers, the two boys went to the Leganitos street police station to file a complaint for the assault. Despite having taken a statement, the facts were not recorded as "homophobic aggression".

It was the police themselves who alerted the Samur. The ambulance that appeared took Manuel to the 12 de Octubre hospital, where he was admitted until the next day. The lesions part indicates: "Peri orbital hematoma",  produced by the strong blow received in the eye.

Santi Rivero, a spokesperson for the gay and lesbian association of Madrid COGAM (Lesbian, Gay, Transsexual and Bisexual Group of Madrid), who disseminated what happened through Twitter, considers that it is not an isolated case and that Nazi batters are beginning to be common, and on weekends they are approaching the environment areas to "have fun with queers".

The Government delegate, Cristina Cifuentes, he responded to a twitter related to the attack offering his collaboration "Tomorrow please contact me through the secretary or by sending an email to ...". The objectives of the meeting, according to Rivero, should be, on the one hand, to ensure that this type of aggression is registered as "homophobia crimes", because "Both the police and the Civil Guard have to be sensitive to this type of incident" and on the other hand, insist on the need to prosecute the perpetrators of these crimes so that they do not go unpunished. This situation highlights, once again, the need to pass a law against discrimination against LGTBI people, such as the one recently approved in Catalonia.

From Gayles.tv we strongly support the position of COGAM and wish Manuel I. a speedy recovery.
