NEWS.- Michel Sam, he rose to fame for being the first top-level American football player who declared himself openly gay. Many were the expectations around this young promise and his jump to the professional sport seemed imminent, but at the moment the glory of the NFL seems to be very distant.
After coming out of the closet, Sam spent the entire preseason with the St. Louis Rams, having passed the pre-selection in the seventh round in May. But the team finally decided not to include him in the final roster of 53 players. With the freedom card in hand, on September 3, he joined the Dallas Cowboys, with whom he has spent 7 weeks training in a practice group. But this very week the player has received notification that he will not become part of the official team. The club justifies the measure by having been forced to create a space for Troy Davis, former second-year player of Central Florida, who joined the training routine of his new club on Monday.
Sam has just made some statements on his Twitter account where he regrets saying, "It's disappointing, but I take the lessons learned in Dallas and continue fighting for an opportunity to prove that I can play every Sunday".
Second frustration for Michael Sam in just two months, hopefully luck will be on his side and can prove his worth at the level he deserves.
