LesGaiCinemad consolidates its position as one of the most important LGTBI-themed festivals
GAYLES.TV.- Today the 21ª edition of LesGaiCinemad It will last until November's 13 with a repertoire of over 110 movies and 18 official venues. Stresses among them the one of San Sebastián de los Reyes that for the second consecutive year will project the audiovisual creations of international scope between the 7 and the 12 of November and will also do it completely free until full capacity is reached. The headquarters in this town will be the Municipal Center for Occupational Training with a varied program that ranges from 2 short film sessions to recent titles such as the comic adaptation of Alfonso Casas and Julián Almazán "Marica you", a medium-length film directed by Ismael Núñez and with the presence of David Novas and Abel Zamora in its cast.
This year's event pays a well-deserved tribute to the filmography of the Catalan filmmaker Ventura Pons through a retrospective of his LGBTI filmography. His presence is common in all editions of LesGaiCInemad but it was in 2009 when he received the Honorary Award for his film career and especially for the visibility and naturalization that his work has given to the LGBTI collective. In the retrospective, four titles of his filmography will be screened that portray characters and different historical moments as a prism of LGTBI reality: "Ocaña, intermittent portrait", "Cola, Colita, Colassa", "The virus of fear" and finally "Ignasi M.". An excellent opportunity to review the work of Ventura Pons.
As in previous editions, there will be monographic sessions of diverse topics such as animation shorts, French cinema, queer Palestinian cinema and highlighting the session "DocuVIHvO! and Positive Cinema " which aims to normalize the situation of people with a positive serostatus until the whole society sees them as they are, human beings like others, with their same fears and their same desires. For this session we have had the collaboration of the Directorate General of Public Health of the Community of Madrid.
