The organization of LGBTI rights Coming Out of St. Petersburg organized an art festival that would last a week. And as if it were a science fiction movie, the festival had to ensure its survival. Due to the attack they suffered the opening night, they changed places several times, and almost without warning, the events of the week.

The 18 of September, the inaugural night of the art festival, the members faced a violent attack by police and thugs who tried to cancel the event, resulting in injured 16.

The one who directed the attempt to cancel the event was none other than the co-author of the ban "Homosexual propaganda" Vitoly Milonov which burst into the art gallery with other homophobic activists to try to ruin the festival. The thugs have been accused of having sprayed with green paint and gas to the participants, which required medical attention.

But this first and hard attack it did not cancel the programming and realization of the festival. Since the organizers managed to find new places and confuse the thugs and even the police.

However, on the last day, around 15 bullies tried attack the event. But these thugs did not foresee that the organizers had hired a strong security device and thanks to that, they avoided the homophobic disturbances and finalized the scheduled programming.

With this history of courage, struggle and complicity on the part of the entire LGBTI community of Russia rises a history of pride. Where freedom has not found its price, not even in fear.

Polina Andrianova, assistant director of the LGBTI rights group and one of the organizers of the event said that "The amount of pressure we have faced this year is synonymous with the success of the festival and the weight that the LGBTI collective is beginning to have. . If we incite so much hatred that means we have to remain open and clear about the information provided by the LGBTI collective. We must fight against the homophobic propaganda of the government. We will continue fighting and facing these pressures as long as it is physically possible. For freedom and LGBTI rights".
