The past 2013 has undoubtedly been a remarkable year for the LGBT community. If we review the article that published So cool A few days ago it was very clear only with the headline: «2013, the year of the gay miracle?«. The bell "Marriage for All»In France, the abolition of the DOMA law in the United States, the triumph of the film «The life of Adèle»Or the steps that South America has been giving in terms of footing are some of the most relevant points. However, there is still a long way to go and, from the GAYLES.TV we have prepared a «wishlist» with 12 wishes that we ask the 2014.
- Being able to love in freedom: as simple and basic as these 4 words. It is sad that a feeling as pure as love has to be repressed according to circumstances. We wish 2014 love without labels to be more visible.
- Better sex education: it seems that we learn the sense of homosexuality and bisexuality once we are adults, when generally these concerns appear already since children. Complete sex education generates open minds and helps many young people feel lost.
- End school bullying: directly linked to the previous one, the phrase "children can be very cruel" is true when there is no good education. Bigotry and rejection can make school hell for those who feel different.
- Inclusion of LGTB at work: maybe it is not the type of harassment suffered in school, but certain comments and looks to colleagues, for example transsexuals, generate the same kind of intolerance in professional circles. We wish from GAYLES.TV integrating adult environments in which everyone feels comfortable with their sexual condition.
- Integrative sport: unfortunately the world of sport still carries many prejudices and sometimes supposes the denial of sexual status. We bet on athletes who are both capable of winning soccer world cups and able to leave the closet with the support of their teammates.
- Equal marriage: In 2013 many historical milestones were achieved in the matter of same-sex marriage, and we want the trend to continue this year that “I declare you husband and wife” is no longer the only possible option.
- Families (plural): the "traditional family" is not the exclusive one in these times. On GAYLES.TV We want everyone to learn that the concept of family is more a matter of feeling than not of gender or number.
- Abolition of the death penalty for homosexuality: Oddly enough, there are 7 countries that today apply the death penalty for "crimes" of homosexuality. Our wish is that this very backward and inhuman practice disappears completely as soon as possible.
- End homophobic governments: what we have seen during the last year in Russia makes us sad and embarrassed. And many other countries continue to promote homophobic policies. We dream of respectful and open-minded politicians who work for the rights of all their citizens.
- LGBT Culture: «The life of Adèle» has been a revelation, both for the quality of the film and for the look it casts on homosexuality. We aspire to a 2014 that offers us books, theater, cinema, music, series and all kinds of culture that serve as a representation and voice to the LGTB community.
- Religious tolerance: "If someone is gay and has good will, who am I to judge?" It seems incredible that these words were pronounced by Pope Francis, but we hope that this step will be the first of a change of scene in an institution as important as the Church.
- Get all this together: the struggle for the rights of the LGBT community should be the responsibility of the whole world. In GAYLES.TV we trust in teamwork and we want to achieve equality together, beyond sexual orientations and preferences, focusing on our most basic identity: equality as people.
