FIRE !! 21st International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival of Barcelona
GAYLES.TV.- The next day June 30 starts FIRE !! in its 21 edition of the "Mostra Internacional de Cinema Gai i Lesbià of Barcelona" with the projection of the film "La Belle saison" which will have the presence of the director Catherine Corsini and producer Elisabeth Pérez.
But we want to move forward presented here today the new SPOT FIRE !!! 2016, «DÉSARMÉS», made by Juanma Carrillo and the imposing Ariana Martínez.
Following the motto of FIRE !! 2016 "Liberté, égalité, diversité", the director puts the woman in the narrative center, in a context of protest, commitment and social change. But it places it in a peaceful, deep, silent plane, in which attraction and love arise ... the most powerful weapon to change mentalities, to change the world, to change oneself and others. Disarmed in front of the other, unarmed before love.
In a moment of crisis, of violence, of generalized extremism, FIRE !! it sends a cry of peace, of hope, of reflection and demands a space for women from any area of life, politics, culture and society, helps transform society from another place.
The contest, which will last until 10 in July at the French Institute of Barcelona, wants to recover the value of a motto that changed the story: "Freedom, equality and fraternity" adapting it to LGTBI reality with a small variation that the organizers themselves we explain: "Freedom, equality and diversity»Are not minor words. Not much less. It is a declaration of principles. We talk about Human rights. We are talking about people. Freedom to be yourself. Equality for being yourself and Diversity because we are all equal, and at the same time, different. "
And is that the Casal Lambda from Barcelona, who has already 40 years defending these words with his dedication and struggle, has decided to celebrate it as best they can do it, through the cinema and his FIRE !! Raising freedom understood as an antidote to the fear of difference, equality as a guarantee of the rights of all and diversity as a reflection of a world in which we can be different without fear.
As every year they show us, through a careful selection of films, the reality of LGTBI people from all over the world, without limiting themselves to the closest environment. Defending the globalization of Human Rights and its universal character, as well as the need to continue fighting until they are respected equally regardless of where they come from.
FIRE !! wants to be a cry to conscience and change and by placing women in the focus of the message makes them the protagonist of the graphic image of FIRE !! 2016. A powerful and free woman, a feminine representation of the transforming fire. A design of Gregorio Soria reminiscent of the 20 years of the last century, when women became aware of their power and claimed their role in the rupturist movements of the early twentieth century.
In this edition, films from Chile, Lithuania, Japan, Sweden, Kenya, Mexico, the United States, Austria, the Philippines and Spain will be seen. Regarding the themes, they focus on affective, sexual and gender diversity with stories of love, disappointment, pain and struggle… fictional stories and documentaries of lives worthy of being brought to the big screen.
