GAYLES.TV.- Last Friday, the creation of the "Front of Alliberament Gai de Catalunya" FAGC, heir of the MELH, is the dean group of the LGBTI struggle in the Spanish state.

The FAGC has a history full of incessant struggles for the rights and freedoms of the LGTBI collective. In 1977 they organized the first demonstration in the Ramblas of Barcelona against the law of social dangerousness next to a multitudinous rally in the Nice cinema obtaining that, months later, the assumption of homosexuality was eliminated from the law. During 5 years was worked in the clandestinity and of illegal form laying the bases of what would be the later LGTBI movement. Until thanks to the support and solidarity of municipalities, political parties, social organizations and personalities of the world of culture, the FAGC was legalized in the year 1980.

During these 40 years there have been many important moments in the conquest of dignity. The campaign «Estima com vulguis» (“Love as you want”), the appearance of the Institut Lambda in 1976, the formation of COFLEHEE-Coordinator of Homosexual Liberation Fronts of the Spanish State-, the first samples of gay cinema, the gay carnival, the InfoGai ...

Years of struggle against legal aggression and discrimination. And of course, incessant work in the fight against AIDS and HIV that so many comrades has taken.
