NEWS.- Today we are happy to be able to tell a story of tenderness and courage. The protagonist is called Alex and he is an 8-year-old boy who was born in a girl's body. Alex has always been clear about her gender and explained it to her mother seeking support and complicity. Now he has decided to get his message to more people and the chosen way has been composing and performing a rap in which he explains how he feels and what is wrong with him. The rap has been videotaped in a performance Alex did at a camp for transgender families.
We transcribe the lyrics of the rap that you can see in the attached video.
"I have a little story that I would like to share
about something that happened to me that may seem quite strange.
Please, imagine what happened to you
or something with which you can relate.
I was just a small child, near 7 or 8
and he had something to say that he could not wait anymore.
So I went to my mom on a hot July day
with hope in my heart and tears in my eyes.
Basically I said: this girl is your son
and I've always felt that way and it has not been fun.
We sat together for a moment.
I thought she was sad, but then I saw her smile
She told me that I was brave and that I was very proud
that he turned to her to help me fix things.
My family and friends are also on board
and the support they gave me brought me afloat.
And from that day on I started my journey and worked together
and we even face the anger of some.
Together we can fight against anything that gives us life.
And we will continue for love.
I'm going to keep singing because I know there are other children
They feel like me and I truly understand what they feel.
Thank you all for being here, taking the time and letting me tell my message in rhyme form.
Please treat everyone the way you expect them to treat you because
we all deserve freedom, love and respect.
Congratulations to Alex and his family and a recommendation, do not miss the video!
