The bargain of "pink money"

The bargain of "pink money"

EDITORIAL.- It seems clear that as a collective we live a moment of openness and recognition. We have gone from the black chronicle to the central pages of the media with more circulation, from the porn movies and the comedy to the multicolored carpets of the festivals, from the concealment, in short, to the glamor of celebrities and politicians coming out of the closet .

But it is also clear that we are a sector of the population coveted by companies, municipalities and media who have discovered the supposed purchasing power of members of the LGTBI community.

The so brought and taken arguments of the absence of family charges, high professional income and the high consumption rate in leisure and culture, make us the target of campaigns, promotions, festivals and events. The prince of the capital has found the credit card of Cinderella and now desperately seeks us to see if it fits into our portfolio. From wishful repudiation, from contempt to flattery.

All this is understandable if we take into account that the 10% of the population represents the 15% of the investment in world tourism. Or what the growth rate of homosexual tourism doubles the heterosexual.

But nothing justifies losing the papers and boasting publicly of the advantage that economically is to organize LGTBI events. With regard to the celebration of a festival, we recently read statements that gay tourism is profitable because, "at the moment we do not have children, which allows us to spend more on ourselves and travel at any time of the year because we do not have to reconcile our trips with school vacations. " From the read the topic bothers (much @ s yes we have children) and the purely mercantilist vision. But what should not be claimed is that an LGBTI festival is not an allegation of identity, but "an excuse to attract more tourists during this weekend."

In this case sin is said and not the sinner, because the intention is not to disturb anyone, but to open a reflection on the ultimate goal of an LGTBI contest, which should always be the search for visibility, the demand for equality and, finally, a meeting point for the community. That generates business, great, but that is a consequence, not the cause wielded to the 4 winds.

Besazos.

    1. Thank you very much Lucia for your comment. It really is sad to know that our efforts are being used for financial gain by people who have no interest in equality. Therefore, it is important that we are aware of these types of "events" and fight against them. Acts that spoil the true concept of human dignity. No person should be considered the "gold coin."
