Christine Hallquist triumphs in the primaries for the position of governor in Vermont

GAYLES.TV.- The Democratic party American from the state of Vermont has made history by choosing as governor candidate Christine Hallquist, the first woman who aspires to that position who has openly declared transgender.

And apparently it has been a good decision since, in the primaries that have just been celebrated, he has defeated the other three candidates of the Democratic Party obtaining an 48,1% of the votes. As a curiosity, it is worth mentioning the candidacy of the very young Ethan Sonneborn who got a remarkable 8,2% of the votes.

Hallquist is 62 years old and is married. He lives in a small town in Vermont of just 3.000 inhabitants with the curious name of Hyde Park. She has 3 children and two grandchildren. The transition from man to woman began at the end of the 2015 and emotionally recalls that moment: "My path to being my authentic self was not easy, but Vermont welcomed me with open arms. But nevertheless, It has always been important for me to live openly and honestly. I chose the transition in a very public way because I felt that I owed it to those who trusted me in the cooperative Vermont Electric"And it is that Hallquist became the first executive director of a company that made a change of sex and that company was precisely Vermont Electric. He was its director for 13 years. In that period he worked to combat climate change and finally resigned to devote himself fully to politics.

In his political program Hallquist poses improve health and education, as well as attract better jobs to the State of the Northeast of the USA. In his campaign he also advocated rights of transsexuals in the moment of uncertainty that lives the collective because of the discriminatory policies applied by Donald Trump.

On November 6, Hallquist will face the current Republican governor Phil Scott in state and legislative elections. Scott won with 67,2% a Republican primary that in his case were much less crowded than those called by the Democratic party, no less than 48.970 votes compared to 30.673 for the Republicans.
