"Carmen and Lola", Goya doubly

The film "Carmen y Lola" obtains the Goya for the best novel direction and Carolina Yuste for the best supporting actress for her role in the film by Arantxa Echevarría

GAYLES.TV.- A couple of months ago we predicted a promising future for the risky bet that Arantxa Echevarría I did with "Carmen and Lola". And the project was worth as much praise as disqualifications, especially by some gypsy associations. You can retrieve all the information in the article "Carmen and Lola, the tear".

But justice has finally been done and the scriptwriter and director of this fantastic film, Arantxa Echevarría, picked up this past Saturday the Goya to the best novel address and he did it with a brief speech but he does not have a single wasted coma. After remembering that "The maturity of a society is measured by the place that women occupy in it", invited the retrograde to go see a movie of "Lesbians, gypsies and women".

The director cried out for equal rights, diversity in all areas and freedom in a society that seems to be stunned and paralyzed in the face of the rise of the extreme right. In fact, it was to those who follow and vote that right that I dedicate the film: «I want to dedicate this film, which is about love, to all those who do not allow to love the different, those who are not capable of putting themselves in the shoes of the minority and the different, those who do not believe that a law of violence of gender, those who believe that LGTBI groups do not need support, those who think that abortion and sex change is not part of public health. I want to dedicate it to them so that, please, they can go to see a film about lesbians, gypsies and women. Let's see if something moves them ». You can say higher, but not clearer.

Arantxa dedicated herself during the gala to recording the entire ceremony with the camera El País while emotionally stressed what it meant to debut as a nominee "... to my 51 years!" and of cherry the prize.

But the Goyas for "Carmen and Lola" were not limited to their director.  Carolina Yuste I picked up the Goya as best supporting actress for her role as Paqui, the social worker who helps the couple of gypsy lesbians protagonists of the film. In fact, Yuste was the only professional actress of the cast and has imposed herself in the voting of the academics to Anna Castillo, who competed for "Trip to a mother's room"; Natalia de Molina, for "Who will sing to you" and the veteran Ana Wagener, for "The Kingdom". Happy to pick up the prize said: "I am happy to be in a project in which 70% of the team are women (...) when we are given the voice, films like this come out that can change consciences".
