NEWS.- The National Museum of Art of Catalonia (MNAC), has hosted for the second consecutive year the celebration of the 5ª Gala AIDS Barcelona. The collection has far exceeded the one of the last edition reaching the record number of 713.658 €. These funds are intended for research, study and assistance through the Foundation Fight Against AIDS, a non-profit organization, created by the Dr. Bonaventura Clotet 1992 the year.
The event was presented by Miguel Bosé, director of the Gala and Ambassador of the Foundation Fight against AIDS and model Martina Klein. More than 700 guests have attended with a wide representation of entrepreneurs, institutions, civil society, artists and athletes.
In the institutional sphere It is worth mentioning the presence of the Mayor of Barcelona, Hon. Mr. Xavier Trias, from the US Ambassador to Spain, Hon. Mr. James Costos, representatives of the Aid for AIDS Foundation and the wife of the President of the Generalitat, Mrs. Helena Rakosnik.
From the first year, MAC Aids Fund, Telefonica, Repsol, Damm and Volkswagen have supported the Fight Against AIDS Foundation through the Gala. The large collections obtained year after year have been possible thanks to these and other companies and their firm conviction in the fight against this disease.
To the 5a Gala have attended, besides those already mentioned, large companies of the country like Iberia, Renfe, MediaPro, Esteve, Endesa, CLH, Gas Natural Fenosa and Eurofirms, among others; big international companies like Google International, Coca-Cola, Aid for Aids NY, Angelíssima from Mexico, Cinépolis from Mexico and United in Network from Venezuela; and international fashion and cosmetics brands such as Carolina Herrera New York, Puig, Giorgio Armani, Bulgari, Bottega Veneta, Valentino, Gucci, Tous, Chanel, Cartier, Loewe, L'Oréal Professional and Alberto Cerdán; and the hotel sector, Majestic Hotel & Spa, W Hotel Barcelona, Hotel Mandarin Oriental, Room Mate Hotel Emma and Pau and El Palauet have welcomed the guests from all over Spain and from various countries around the world.
The whole Bosé family has not wanted to miss the appointment, so with Miguel Bosé were also his mother Lucia Bosé and Bimba, niece of the singer who starred in a session as a DJ. next to Charlie Sinchronic. The Gala also featured the performance of Sara Baras with a show designed exclusively for the occasion.
It is impossible to mention in full the list of familiar faces that attended the glamorous appointment with solidarity. During the Gala, the Barcelona AIDS Awards were presented with the award designed by the sculptor Jaume Plensa. The winners were Professor Bruce Walker which leads an international project to obtain a vaccine and improve treatment. In the institutional category, the Prize was awarded to Obra Social La Caixa for the perseverance and dedication to the investigation, through its Foundation IrsiCaixa.
