NEWS.- Today starts the 19ª edition of the "International Festival of Lesbian, Gai and Transexual Cinema of Madrid". For two weeks you will be able to see a selection of the best long films and documentaries in the LGTBI area with several premieres.
The event, which had seen its continuity jeopardized, has been celebrated thanks to the selfless collaboration of thousands of people who managed to gather 6.000 € through a crowdfunding campaign, which has turned out to be a success. Thanks to this, many of the screenings will be free and only 6 € will be paid to access the Ateneo, Sala Berlanga, Casa de América and Cineteca rooms.
The Festival opens its inaugural session with "Test" directed by Chris Mason Johnson, filmmaker with experience in the world of dance. This is a film that tells us about the anguish of a young gay dancer, who must undergo one of the first HIV tests at a crucial time for his career. The movie has beautiful choreographies.
Of lesbian theme we would highlight "Of girls and horses" by the prolific director Monika Treut, a beautiful story that narrates the experience of a problematic adolescent, forced by her family to live with horses on a farm in northern Germany. What should be a punishment becomes one of the best stages of his life.
In transsexual key we find "Pierrot Lunaire", of Bruce LaBruce who has directed an adaptation of the opera "Pierrot Lunaire" by Arnold Schoenberg from a transsexual perspective. Work of an experimental nature and of marked radicality, even within the trajectory of the controversial Canadian director.
