The Synod opens the door of the Church to the gay

NEWS.- The Synod opens the door of the Church to the gays in the first week of debates about the family. This is how it is read in the "Relatio post disceptationem", summary document of the interventions of last week, presented by the Hungarian Cardinal Peter Erdö before the extraordinary assembly of bishops.

From that famous rhetorical interrogation of Pope Francis on his flight back from Rio de Janeiro, "Who am I to judge the gays?", until the statements that have come to light this week in the aforementioned document, the Catholic Church has taken a giant step in a short space of time. Francisco asked sincerity to the bishops at the beginning of the Synod and that for some supposes a very high cost depending on their country of origin. Despite this, the results are very encouraging.

The Church would be approaching all those who until recently sent to hell without too many considerations, homosexuals, divorced and remarried and domestic partners. It represents a real advance that, in an official document of the Vatican, can be read "Homosexual people have gifts and qualities to offer to the Christian community", while questioning how to receive them, "are we in a position to receive these people by accepting their sexual orientation and guaranteeing them a place of fraternity in our communities?" Although the equality of marriage continues to be denied from ecclesiastical authority, "unions between persons of the same sex can not be equated with marriage between a man and a woman," if it is accepted that "There are cases in which the mutual support of homosexual unions is a valuable support for the life of couples." Concludes the document in this first phase stating that "homosexual people have to be respected, as the dignity of every person is respected regardless of their sexual orientation."

Congratulations to all the LGTBI believers who see their identity and dignity for their Church for the first time. Considering that approximately 1.200 millions of people on the planet are baptized into Catholicism, it is great news that the highest authority rectify and recognize the equality and rights of the entire LGTBI community.
