13 Arrested in Alicante for a brutal homophobic assault on a young man whose nasal septum and femur were broken
Nine minors and four adults have been arrested for Agents of the National Police for an alleged brutal Homophobic aggression a young man whose nasal septum, cheekbone and femur were broken, as reported by Headquarters in a statement. Those arrested are charged with hate crimes, serious injuries and robbery with violence and intimidation of a man of 43 years which was in an area of pine trees in the Alicante Tossal Park with two other friends.
The three men were cornered by at least 15 people that they berated and insulted them by shouting "fagots, sons of bitches, get out of here, we're going to kill you." Two of the accused were able to flee and escape from the place, but the third did not succeed. He was hit by the attackers, who knocked him down and, once on the ground, brutally attacked him with kicks and punches to the face and the rest of his body, even using a wooden stick.
They produced a fracture of the nasal septum, cheekbone and femur, and had to undergo emergency surgery up to two times, currently pending a third surgery. In addition, when he was on the ground, the attackers tried to steal his cell phone and his belongings, although they were ultimately unsuccessful due to the victim's resistance.
"Tremendously complex" investigation
After his complaint in February of this year, the investigation has been carried out by agents of the Group II of the Woman Family Unit of the Provincial Brigade of the Judicial Police of Alicante and it has been tremendously complex since the injured party did not know the aggressors at all and given how brutal and senseless it was, he could hardly provide any data on the attackers. Without witnesses or other clues, the investigators had only a video recorded by one of the surveillance cameras of the place where part of the persecution reported by the victim was fleetingly seen.
As a result of the work of the police, the first indications were collected, which once properly evaluated, managed to find one of the aggressors and then identify all the members of the group who participated in the brutal homophobic aggression. The detainees to date, aged between 14 and 19 years old and of Spanish and Colombian nationalities, were placed at the disposal of the Court of Instruction of the Guard of Alicante and the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office of Alicante, the adult being admitted to prison and two of the minors admitted in turn to a Juvenile Center In a closed regime, another of the detained minors was already in a reform center.
The investigation is not terminated: the agents of the UFAM Efforts continue to locate and detain at least three other adults who are fully identified in the coming days.
