"Transparent" triumphs in the Golden Globes

NEWS.- Yesterday Sunday the 72nd edition of the Golden Globes in its 2015 edition. The ceremony was presented one more year by actresses Tina Fey and Amy Poehler and was held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.

In the film category, the big winner of the night was "Boyhood" which won 3 awards, the best dramatic film, best director for Richard Linklater and best supporting actress for Patricia Arquette. The film was shot during 12 years in different stages and tells the story of Mason, a character played by Ellar Coltrane from the age of 6, when he begins elementary school, until the age of 18 when he leaves his mother's house. It is therefore an unpublished cinematographic experiment on the passage of time, childhood and adolescence shot in real time.

But one of the surprises of the night gave the series "Transparent" of Amazon in the television category, rising with two awards, the one Best Comedy Series and Best Comedy Actor for Jeffrey Tambor, that some will remember of the mythical "Los Roper".

"Transparent" is a play on words between "trans" and "parent", progenitor in English and is located in Los Angeles, California. It tells the story of Mort Pfefferman, a retired teacher and divorced family man who, after spending years hiding his true identity, decides to introduce himself to his three adult children as the transsexual Maura.

“Transparent” has not stopped garnering critical acclaim since its debut in the United States in the new television season that began in September and not only for the way it deals with the issue of transsexuality and family relationships, but also for its careful production in a very cinematographic line and for the interpretation of its protagonists.

The series has been created by J who knows first-hand the subject he is talking about, since his own father is transsexual. Despite this, Soloway has declared that it is not an autobiographical account.

In the month of November at Gayles.tv we talked about "Transparent" in the postcard collection of our Facebook page and announced that it promised to be one of the big bombs of the season. We are sincerely happy to have been successful in what it means for the recognition and normalization of transsexuality.
