In the Netherlands politicians and other groups protest hand in hand for the beating that a couple of men received
GAYLES.TV.- Last Sunday a Dutch gay couple, Jasper Vernes-Sewratan and Ronnie Sewratan-Vernes, aged 35 and 31 respectively, were attacked by a group of boys between the ages of 14 and 20 when they walked hand in hand on the street in the small town of Arnhem (Netherlands). The couple were on their way home after a night out walking hand in hand when the boys began to insult them and then beat them violently, giving them a full-blown bullshit. One of them was hit in the face with a wrench causing the loss of several teeth.
The aggression has generated the indignation of the entire political class and a wave of solidarity in social networks, in addition to various gestures by various sectors of Dutch society. Alexander Pechtold, leader of the left liberals, went to Parliament at the hands of Wouter Koolmees, one of his colleagues and later uploaded the image to his Twitter account with the hashtag #allemannenhandinhand, which could be translated by "all men of the hand."
The President of the Eurogroup and Dutch Finance Minister, Jeroen Dijsselbloem and Lodewiijk Asscher, head of the Social Democrats, also held hands by strolling along the beach and shared the photo on Twitter.
Since then, the protest has been extended to police, private companies, emergency services, football teams and many private users of Instagram and Twitter who have wanted to express their disgust for the aggression by giving their support to the collective LGTBI.
Representatives of a Dutch association fighting for gay, lesbian, transgender and bisexual rights have issued a statement stating that in the last 6 years homophobic aggressions have increased from 400 to 600. However, in most cases, the perpetrators go unpunished and the figures show that 2015 only convicted 9 convictions.
