Seville LGTBI Seville cancels LGTBI grants

The Seville City Council eliminates grants to LGTBI associations for the 2019

GAYLES.TV.- «Something smells like rotten in Andalusia" and it doesn't seem like the fact that the consistory of Sevilla follow in the hands of PSOE has prevented LGTBI collectives from falling on their head. In total, the left adds 17 seats of which 13 belong to the PSOE. The right has a total of 14, but 2 of them are of VOX and one would say that some weight they are having when making certain decisions, or that or they do not understand the policies that are beginning to be applied with LGTBI issues.

The point is that last October 2 met on LGTBI Municipal Council that sits at a table at City of Seville and to associative entities, political parties and unions to analyze the proposals made by LGTBI associations. On the agenda was the “Month of sexual diversity” and the actions that will be derived from the aforementioned proposals and their application by the Equality Area of the session.

What was not on the agenda are grants to LGTBI associations in their program and maintenance modality. Well, the Delegate of Equality Adela Castaño and Teresa García, Director General of Equality, they took off with the announcement that the Seville City Council canceled the subsidies to LGTBI associations in the 2019 call. And with all the self-confidence, Adela Castaño specified that they are eliminated by political decision of not calling any line of subsidies in the area of Equality, both to women's associations and the LGTBI collective. So, who does the Equality Area work for, if not for women and LGTBI groups?

The criteria on which such barbarity is based are of an administrative nature, due, according to the delegate, to the great traffic jam currently in said area, mainly due to the lack of personnel in charge of processing the files and their inefficiency in order to carry out the management.

pride

I insist, why does the City of Seville need an Area of Equality that denies its support to women and the LGTBI collective? And if staff is lacking or inefficient, why don't they hire more workers? And if they are not able to fulfill their ultimate goal, why don't they resign immediately?

It's embarrassing, a lot of other people's shame, because that decision directly affects the functioning and survival of all Sevillian LGTBI associations. They endanger the services they offer to the population and endanger the jobs of health workers and lawyers who work to support those who need it.

But what is most in danger is the struggle to make visible and protect the LGTBI community against LGBTIphobia and aggressions. Do not forget that, after Barcelona and Madrid, Seville leads the number of complaints for homophobia. If the associations are weakened, the group is weakened and that means going back in time that has no justification.

Unfortunately and as the girl from "Poltergeist" in front of the TV…. "They're already here ..."
