“Sense8” and “Transparent” triumph at the GLAAD awards

Ruby Rose receives the GLAAD Stephen F. Kolzak Award

GAYLES.TV.- The 27ª edition of the GLAAD Awards rewards "Sense8"(Netflix) as Best Drama now"Transparent"(Amazon Instant Video) as Best Comedy at a gala held at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. "Bessi"(HBO) starring Queen Latifah the award went to Best TV Movie, and there was a tie in the category of Best Reality between "I Am Cait"(E!) And"I Am Jazz"(TLC).

Among the curiosities of the gala highlights the appearance for the first time in public of Lilly Wachowski after the media uproar that was created when they took her out of the closet as a trans woman.

Also the surprise was the presence of the singer Taylor Swift who delivered the GLAAD Stephen F. Kolzak Award a Ruby Rose. This award is given to professionals who develop an important work promoting acceptance and equality LGTB +.

Ruby Rose has managed to capture the attention of the masses with her interpretation of Stella Carlin in the third season of the successful series "Orange Is The New Black" But his struggle for the defense of collective rights is not new; throughout his career he has openly defended equal marriage, has denounced homophobic bullying and has positioned himself against binary gender identity, defining himself as gender fluid.

The award is named after the famous Los Angeles casting director Stephen F. Kolzak who spent half of his life fighting against homophobia and HIV phobia in the American entertainment industry. In previous editions the winners with this award were Laverne Cox, Rufus Wainwright, John Waters, Anne Heche, Chaz Bono, Robert Greenblatt, Melissa Etheridge, Bill Condon, Todd Haynes, Alan Ball, Ellen DeGeneres and Sir Ian McKellen, among others.
