Satyavati "Satyavati", "corrective" violations for lesbians

"Satyavati" is an independent production that tells us about the reality of "corrective" violations for lesbians in India

GAYLES.TV.-  "Satyavati" is an independent film that struggles to denounce a terrifying reality that persists today in India and that some people differ in the name of tradition: corrective lesbian violations. When they discover in a family that their daughter is a lesbian, they not only allow but also cause unknown men to rape her to try to "correct their illness".

The film tells the story of two girls who try to keep alive the flame of their love in an absolutely hostile environment that subjects them to harassment and all kinds of abuses in the name of the sacred holy tradition.

Deepthi Tadnaki, director of the film recognizes that it is a fiction without pretending to be a documentary but that, at the same time, it intends to spread the terrible situation of corrective violations to everyone to open a debate that helps to change mentalities and avoid so much pain to so many women. . "When you are rejected and belittled by non-conformity, there is nowhere to go. When your protector has become a threat, there is nowhere to go. When crime is legitimized by the attire of tradition, there is nowhere to go. ", with these harsh words describes Tadnaki a sick society that has turned into law systematic abuse and rape.

"Satyavati", which was presented last November in the "LesGayCineMad" Madrid, was forced to stop filming on several occasions due to lack of resources. The trailer was presented to distributors and festivals and received a unanimous ovation, but the sensitivity of the subject slowed investments. Finally, thanks to the efforts of people from different groups and the shooting team itself, the film can reach the screen and denounce a horror that has been silenced for centuries.

A film that ultimately makes us reflect but also thrills us, as the words of Deepthi Tadnaki excite:

“… Somewhere there are people who want to unite in one voice, there are people who want to stand up and assert themselves. That the LGBT community is not alone. That our society could be ready to show more solidarity. That the voices will unite and make noise ”.
