Left-wing groups have registered in the Congress of Deputies the Trans Memory Law that calls for benefits for those repressed by Francoism
Yesterday the first step was taken for the Trans Memory Law become a reality with the registration of the bill in the Congress of Deputies. A law that was born with great political support, the parties have signed the registration of the norm Podemos, BNG, Junts, ERC, EH Bildu and Sumar.
The law, promoted by the Trans Platform Federation, comes to demand the recognition of the damage caused to the trans and LGBT people by the Spanish State, both in the dictadura as in democracy and which puts on the table reparation for people who had to suffer persecution, prison and torture simply because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
Pension for people over 65 years of age
La proposition of law It provides for a pension for people over 65 years of age who were retaliated against for their sexual orientation, a pension of identical amount to that received by pensioners over 65 years of age without family responsibilities and which would increase by 50% for people who suffered deprivation of liberty, banishment, torture, psychiatric abuse or denial of equal access to fundamental rights.
«The State owes us a debt and today we are taking the first step to make sure that this is remedied. We are asking for a lifetime pension for all trans women, gays and lesbians who are victims of the dictatorship and who are over 65 years old, a lifetime pension comparable to that of any pensioner over 65 years old. The State owes us a debt, now it is time to pay it.", has declared Mar Cambrollé, President of the Trans Platform Federation, in front of Congress of Deputies.
Cambrollé has called on all Parliamentary Groups that have not signed the registration of the law today to support the process and once again place Spain at the forefront of rights LGTBIQ +, placing our democracy as one of the most advanced in the world.
