The LGTBI collectives of the city of Córdoba They ask the Provincial Council to withdraw financial support for the Andalucía LGTB Awards
The associations LGTBI+ from Córdoba They have denounced through a statement what they consider a "commodification of acronyms LGTBIQ + by some delegations of the Provincial Council» by supporting LGBT Andalusia Awards, organized by Jesus Palomares. Specifically, associations Arcoiris Córdoba, Libérate, Todes Transforming Córdoba, LGTBIH and Andalusia Diversity They are opposed to the celebration of the delivery of the IV Andalusia LGTB Awards, as published by Diary of Cordoba.
They consider that it is "of a merely propaganda act, organized behind the backs of the collectives LGTBIQ + of the city and led by a businessman whose initiative is solely for profit, not knowing any social activity in favor of the group, and supported by an association with no presence in the city or in the province of Córdoba«.
As stated in the statement, "Equality is built day by day, supporting the work of the groups, with training, education, and a clear commitment to diversity, and not through large events paid for by the Department of Culture and without counting on the Equality delegation or the own LGTBI table of the Provincial Council«.
We have contacted the free yourself president Francisco Segura, who declares «Jesús Palomares, organizer of the LGTB Andalucía Awards, is a businessman in gay nightlife, he has never organized an event or activity that has an impact on society or on LGTBI associations. The spirit that inspires these LGTB Andalucía Awards is merely lucrative, therefore, it does not represent us. The Provincial Council should be more cautious when it comes to financing events that are built behind the back of the LGTBI collective».
They ask that the financial support be withdrawn
The collectives LGTBIQ + request the delegation of Culture of the Diputación de Córdoba than "decline its financial support to the LGTBI Awards of Andalusia«. And they remind the Diputación that «has this table with all groups LGTBIQ + of the province, coordinated from its delegation of Equality, and that said board, which is the one that works for diversity, has already expressed its disagreement with favoring companies and associations unrelated to these objectives, or aimed at commodifying the struggle of the collective«.
Antonio Gil Cabrera, President of the Córdoba LGTBHI Association has declared that althoughthe flag and the initials LGTBIQ + they do not belong to anyone, activists look after the majority of the collective and our rights. We fight by working altruistically every day of the year. Y Jesus Palomares look out for your personal interest only«. All we ask is that "This man reach an agreement on these prizes with the associations of each province and the Junta de Andalucía«, Has settled.
