NEWS.- The city of Saint Petersburg has been the place chosen to celebrate the first gay marriage in Russia. A woman and a transsexual were married a few days ago by circumventing the strict laws that weigh against the LGTBI collective. The wedding had to be allowed since one of the protagonists is transsexual and, despite being receiving hormonal treatment to become a woman, her passport indicates that her sex is masculine.
The act has awakened the ire of the most reactionary sectors of Russian society, especially the deputy Vitali Milonov, sadly known for being an author and fervent promoter of the law that pursues and punishes any act suspected of constituting "homosexual propaganda" or pedophilia with penalties that may amount to imprisonment. Milonov has stated "It is an insult to thousands of Russian families. I intend to request the annulment of that wedding. "
