After the mediatic wedding of Óscar Cornejo (creator of the Sálvame program) and the socialist Jaume Collboni, Catalan politics had not experienced a gay wedding with more full celebrities and high positions.
This July 5 will get married Santi Vila (Councilor Territori i Sostenibilitat de la Generalitat de Catalunya) and the Italian-Brazilian chef Rafael Vertamatti. The place chosen by the couple has been the Castle of Peralada, a dream enclave in the Alt Empordà, area to which Santi is very close (since he was mayor of Figueres from 1999 to 2006).
At the wedding, the presence of politicians from all over the parliamentary arch, both Catalan and Spanish, is expected. The minister Ana Pastor, the President of the Generalitat Artur Mas among others political personalities.
Among the political achievements of Vila, it is worth mentioning current counseling and City Hall of Figueres, having co-founded Convergais, a faction within Convergència i Unió itself that tries to combat attacks and discrimination that come from outside and also from within (Unió, the most conservative branch of the party). Attacks on the integrity and rights of homosexuals that Convergais works to eradicate from politics. In addition, Vila sounds like a successor to Artur Mas in the leadership of the party in the not too distant future.
The couple expects a simple wedding and not media, taking into account Vila's profile. For this reason, they ask for privacy, anonymity and respect for both themselves and their guests, and they promise to provide images to the media to cover the news.
