Do you know who to vote for?

EDITORIAL.-  The next Sunday 24 of May are celebrated in Spain municipal and autonomic elections depending on the area in which you reside. It is important to know what are the positions adopted by the different political parties in relation to LGTBI issues although we are talking about municipal policy. As important as seeing the attitudes followed previously by those parties or the consequences that have been with the promises made. It is useless to offer programs in the campaign if they are subsequently systematically breached.

It is surprising to read that "the Popular Party in its Autonomic Framework Program, it undertakes to promote measures for the eradication of hate crimes and discrimination based on nationality, racial or ethnic origin, sex, religion, age, disability, sexual orientation or identity, opinion or any other condition or personal or social circumstance ", yes, without specifying how. It is surprising when it was the PP who presented recourse to the Law that allowed equal marriage in our country. In fact, in its Municipal Framework Program there are not even specific proposals for the equality of LGTBI people.

Without going any further in the past Council of Ministers that approved the "Comprehensive Family Support Plan" (PIAF), included the LGTB within the group of "families with problems". The unfortunate words of the Minister of Health, Social Services and Equality, Alfonso Alonso, were exactly “The next line is support for families with special needs, and there we wanted to cover the entire rich panorama of families and various problems: families with serious illnesses, families with elderly, immigrant families, families of Spanish employees in the foreign service, lesbian, gay, transsexual, bisexual families ... New familiar forms ”. Either we don't exist or we are a problem.

We believe that everyone should be well informed before entering a ballot in the ballot box that implies support for certain types of policies, for this reason we include access to the page of the State Federation of Lesbians, Gays, Transsexuals and Bisexuals (FELGTB), where you will find all the information that concerns us in relation to the proposals made by the various LGTBI associations, the proposals of the parties and the interesting section #BuscaElArcoIris that includes an agenda for the elections. You will find all the information by clicking here.

Other specific portals have published during these days different interviews to political leaders who will help to clear the most common doubts.

Happy celebration of democracy!
