If you're gay, stop by here

EDITORIAL.- In Sweden a pacifist organization has launched an unusual and fun "defense system" against Russian submarines, which incidentally affirms the recognition of LGBT rights in the Nordic country. It is an artifact with flashy neon lights representing a provocative sailor, supposedly gay, wearing only a slip and a cap. The sailor is surrounded by hearts and moves his hips to the rhythm that marks an enigmatic message in Morse: "Around here, if you're gay".

This artifact has been submerged by "The Swedish Peace and Arbitration Society" in the waters of the Stockholm archipelago, with the intention of dissuading the possible incursions of Russian submarines. As if the morse image and message were not enough to veto the homophobes, the ceiling also carries a message in Russian and English that reads: "Welcome to Sweden, gay since 1944". That is the year in which homosexuality stopped being illegal in the country, one of the pioneers in guaranteeing the equality of LGTBI rights.

The initiative, in addition to facing the anachronistic laws of Putin against the homosexual collective, supposes a denunciation to the policy of the Swedish Government, in front of the increasing tension that is being lived in the Baltic as a result of the conflict between Russia and the Ukraine. The issue is that last October, Swedish armed forces claimed to have detected "underwater activity" that was immediately linked by the media to a possible Russian incursion. The response was a spectacular military deployment that included helicopters, fishing boats and hundreds of soldiers. However, the search for the alleged submarine was unsuccessful but, in a way, has served to justify an increase in state investment in defense. For the pacifists it is a mistake: "If the weapons had worked in the resolution of conflicts, we would have peace in the world for a long time Neon marine Gayles.tvweather". With their gay sailor campaign they want to demonstrate that there are other peaceful methods to avoid conflict.

The truth is that it is funny to imagine the situation on the command bridge of the supposed invading submarine in the plan "- Kowalski, are you sure they are asking us if we are gay? - No sir, they say that if we are gay, let's move on" . Make humor, not war.
