EDITORIAL.- Of course, you can be gay and PP and lesbian and PP and transsexual and PP and gardener, teacher, Catalan, Asturian, black, white, astronaut, podiatrist, Betis, Barça, you could even be writing this article and being from the PP, well, we are not going to exaggerate either. Why being gay or lesbian only means that you are attracted to people of the same sex and be bisexual of both sexes, ball point.
What you can not do is lose sight of objectivity and much less forget history and its consequences, because you already know that whoever does it is obliged to repeat it. And that story, the one of its own party, is the one that some young people seem to be unaware that in these days of multicolored flags in the consistories, they have taken off on Twitter with the hashtag #YoSoyGayYdelPP and an appeal to the hasty exit of the popular closet of all gays and lesbian peperos. Do not see how the public space will be singing to mothballs!
We will not deny here that, in a personal capacity, some members of the PP have supported the LGTBI collective and its demands, it is enough to remember the brave solo vote of Celia Villalobos (which incidentally earned him a sanction from his party) for gay marriage 30 June of the 2005. But we can not, we must not forget that the policies of the PP have hampered, when not directly attacked the rights of gays and lesbians per system.
Let's remember: in the vote of equal marriage two groups voted against, the Popular Party and Unió. Once the law was approved, it was the PP who filed an appeal for unconstitutionality, refusing to withdraw it for anything less than 7 years. And how to forget that unspeakable concentration of homophobes summoned by the Spanish Family Forum with the presence of 19 bishops, among them Rouco Varela and the flat of the PP parading to the cry of «No to the chaos, we want mother and father» and come Spanish flags with the message "True marriage = man and woman". There they were Jorge Fernández Díaz, Ana Pastor, Miguel Ángel Arias Cañete, Jaime Mayor Oreja, Eduardo Zaplana or Ángel Acebes. And of course what would end up being mayor of Madrid, Ana Botella, the fruit bowl of pears and apples.
