In the marches of the PRIDE of this year it has been able to see some banner with the motto "I'm pansexual" that more than one @ watched with suspicion. For its part, television series have long echoed the issue, from the protagonist of "Doctor Who" that is defined as pansexual (in fact he is attracted even by life forms of other planets !!), going through "Will & Grace" and the most recent contribution to the fiction of the couple formed by Nomi, transsexual woman and his girlfriend Amanita, lesbian in "Sense8". In "Sex in New York" we hear the phrase "Pansexuality is the sexuality of the new millennium" and something of that is what is beginning to permeate society.
But who has put the subject in the limelight has been, of course, Miley Cyrus generating what is already known as "the effect Miley Cyrus" after occupying magazine cover "Elle" with the claim that he is pansexual. He has known both male and female couples but she resists being labeled as lesbian or even bisexual.
And is that bisexuality is not the same as pansexuality. Bisexual people are attracted to people of one sex or another but recognizing the relevance of gender. Pansexuality, on the other hand, minimizes the importance of sexuality and gender. To be a pansexual today is to break completely with the barriers of gender or identity and to love another person for his being, his charisma, for everything that moves in you regardless of his sexual condition. It does not matter to be a woman, man, transsexual, hermaphrodite, bisexual, the impediments to falling in love are abolished in the universe of pansexuality.
In fact the name derives from the Greek prefix "bread", which means "everything" and that everything facilitates many people a better identification with their desires and drives. But the majority current understands pansexuality as a revolutionary stance, which tends to seek a more sincere and real encounter between individuals since it serves our deepest self. Be that as it may, it is clear that it represents a challenge that questions gender and sex categories, not a passing fad but the arrow that points in the direction of a sexuality more in tune with who we are today.
