The power

The power

EDITORIAL.- All human societies define the moment in which a human being is autonomous and responsible for his actions, that is, he assumes power and control over his own life. It is the age of majority. Another thing would be how these societies are organized to regulate coexistence, the power in that case should be a delegation that we make over a group of individuals to manage and regulate resources and make life together possible. That is politics.

The politician represents the interests of the whole society, his obligation is to preserve the rights of absolutely all citizens and to the extent of their possibilities, to improve living conditions for the whole world. What should never be done in politics is to usurp the capacity of people to decide, to appropriate their resources, to decide against the will of the people represented, in short, to treat ourselves as subjects instead of who we are, the true owners of our reality.

Today in Greenland the policy has been put to good use and 57.000 citizens have seen the right to equal marriage unanimously recognized by their representatives. But it's not always like this.

The LGTBI collective, as part of society, has every right to demand that the political class endorse and support the necessary measures to guarantee the exercise of all their rights on an equal basis to the rest of the population. Hence the posture of German Chancellor Angela Merkel Refusing outright to accept equal marriage, provoke gay and lesbian protests in Germany. Particularly unworthy is Merkel's stubbornness at a time when her justice minister, the Social Democrat Heiko Maas will present a reform that gives greater advantages to same-sex unions to equate them in obligations and rights.

But the dependence of power has other faces and so, before the triumph of "YES" to equal marriage in the Irish Referendum, many critical voices have been raised about the fact that people with different sexual options must decide on our legitimate rights. With everything, The Vatican, through its Secretary of State, Pietro Parolin has put the cry in the sky affirming that, "It is not only possible to speak of a defeat of the Christian principles, but of a defeat of mankind" It is clear that the Church does not seem willing to modify its position in front of LGTBI people.

The conclusion we reach is that it seems that everyone has the right to speak and decide about our life and rights, when we should be gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transsexuals who empowered us, who internalized the legitimate right to be and enjoy the same living conditions as other citizens. Otherwise we will continue to be eternally under age and will be others, generation after generation, who decide how we can or can not live.
