Brutal murder of two lesbians in Guatemala

GAYLES.TV.- The corpses of Betzi Esmeralda Có Sagastume y Kelli Maritza Villagrán Recinos, of 18 and 26 years, were located in a sector of kilometer 54 of the route to the Atlantic, near the department of El Progreso, Guatemala. The April 23 found the couple's bodies tied with duct tape. According to Municipal Fire Department of Progress they were slaughtered and on their bodies they had written "by ears they died" Both victims were attacked with knives and their bodies were left half naked, handcuffed and with lesbophobic messages.

The Human Rights Ombudsman, Augusto Jordán Rodas, showed solidarity with the families of the victims and with the community organizations LGBT + from the country. In a statement he warned "We can not allow this type of crime with evident homophobic tinge to occur in our country and above all I ask that it not remain unpunished. We have to send the message that in Guatemala they will not tolerate that kind of murder, that we have to respect, that all human beings are free and equal, without discrimination, without stigmatization, much less reach violence".

Carlos Romero Prieto, Representing the National Network of Sexual Diversity, who are in charge of a "Observatory for violent deaths" I declare that "This year we have documented 6 cases and if the pace remains the same we would achieve the same thing from last year that 24 cases were documented. We do not do an analysis only per year, but what we have from last year and from the present. There is a pattern that we are identifying, such as the treatment of bodies. The case of the girls who were tied together is very strange because we had never documented such a case, and it coincides with the previous case in Huehuetenango where also the boy (José Díaz) had homophobic messages on his body".
