The hate crimes prosecutor asks for a year and a half in jail for two neo-Nazis for threatening an LGTBI activist on Twitter

La Provincial Prosecutor's Office of Valencia claim a fine of $2.700 and a sentence of 1 year and 6 months imprisonment for two neo-Nazis who insulted and threatened to kill, through the social network Twitter, to the young rights activist LGBTI Fran Pardo. The events, which occurred in 2015, are constitutive, in the opinion of the prosecutor, of several crimes of incitement to hatred through the internet, provided for and punished in article 510 of the Criminal Code, and will be judged today in Valencia.

As stated in the indictment of the Public ministry, in addition to the convictions and the fine, the definitive withdrawal of the comments of the aforementioned social network and the payment of the procedural costs is demanded.

The complainant described himself in his profile as “proudly gay, atheist and red«, And against this definition one of the defendants wrote the comment«do I take out my pipe or punch?«, and later, facing the reactions of other tweeters, he added that «I wanted to make sure I kill him«. The other defendant, in the same conversation, added: «Palomino style?«, In reference, according to the prosecutor, to the anti-fascist activist assassinated in the Madrid subway in November 2007 by a self-styled right-wing soldier. Subsequently, the first defendant added that “Now I feel like shitting fag more than before«.

Other tweeters who could not be identified also made humiliating and threatening expressions about hypothetical torture and attacks on the Valencian activist. There was also a wave of solidarity towards the harassed young man who in a few days received hundreds of messages of support.

live in fear

Seven years later, two neo-Nazis sit in the dock for tweets with death threats against the activist LGBTI Fran Pardo. The oral trial has previously been suspended twice. «Seven years in which I have seen how my life has been conditioned by this constant fear that those threats could be fulfilled", has said Fran pardo, who assures that he has had to give up his freedom to preserve the «sense of security«.

The activist has explained that his life was conditioned by the threats, produced between 2013 and 2015, when he was between 16 and 18 years old. «Every time I came home at night it was practically an achievement«, He assures. «And all because of who I am, because of the irrational hatred of some", Add. «Almost seven years later, we are a little closer to ensuring that these threats, than the insane hatred of the extreme right on the internet, do not go unpunished as we have seen so many times.", it states Fran Pardo.
