GAYLES.TV.- The fact that Waylon Smithers, the faithful helper of Mr. Burns in the series "The Simpson", is homosexual is not news. But that he has finally decided to come out of the closet is.

Last Sunday was issued in the United States the chapter "The Burns Cage" in which Smithers, tired of the slights of Mr. Burns, kicks the doors of the closet in which he has been locked for no less than 27 years and sets out to find his better half. After accepting that his eternal love, his revered boss will never be able to reciprocate, among other things because he does not even know about Smithers' devotion, he decides to take charge of his life and go out in search of true love. And he does it with nothing less than with the help of Homer Simpson, much in his role of Celestina helping Smithers to start their new life and find a male partner.

The script has been run by Rob LaZebnik, who in an interview with the New York Post has confessed that Smithers' coming out of the closet is a kind of tribute to his own son, a gay boy of 21 years. The episode is broadcast on a date close to the young man's birthday and for Rob it was the best gift he could give him, a way of telling him that he accepts, respects and loves him. "Is there a better way to tell my son that I love him than writing a character about him?" Asks the screenwriter.
The series, which has just started broadcasting its 27 season already lived an outing with Patty, one of the sisters of Margin that unveiled his lesbianism. By the way, it will be Marge who lives one of the most bizarre situations of the season and with a nod to the LGTBI community: in a chapter titled "Orange is the New Yellow", will enter prison for leaving Bart playing alone in the park one day when it was more irritating than usual. Apparently as commented by the executive producer of the series the episode is inspired by real events, the story of a mother who was arrested for leaving her son playing in the park while going to work.
In short, the new season of "The Simpsons", which is loaded with new features, will have as one of its main protagonists the endearing and liberated Smithers.
