Gladiators, aim to kill gais and atheists

NEWS.- Some news must be read twice and even with everything it is hard to believe that they are true, but they are. The headline would be that a church in Brazil is forming an army that among other objectives has to "kill gais and atheists". As is. It's about the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God (IURD) of Brazil and would be recruiting young people from the most disadvantaged layers of society to form an army, the "Gladiators of the altar", that is, "The gladiators of the altar". The boys are being indoctrinated to accept to eliminate any homosexual or atheist person who crosses their path.

The images that circulate through the network show us a multitude of uniformed young men wearing the symbols of their organization. They parade at a military pace, forming in front of a platform where a pastor gives them his blessing. One of the leaders addresses the group asking: "Gladiators, what do you want?", To which they respond by shouting: "The altar, the altar, the altar!".

This week the first alarm bells have begun to rise. Federal deputy Jean Wyllys (PSOL-RJ) posted on his personal Instagram account a photo of the Gladiators with the word "shocking". In the comment, the deputy states that the "Christian fundamentalism in Brazil threatens individual freedoms, sexual diversity or secular cultural manifestations, "and goes further in comparing it with Islamic fundamentalism and asking" when will they begin to execute "infidels" and atheists and to push homosexuals from the towers, as does Islamic fundamentalism in Middle East?"

The response of the IURD The deputy has been denying all kinds of violent ideology, «Seeking a violent motivation in these young men in uniform is as absurd as wanting to see a fascist orientation in organizations such as the Salvation Army or the Scouts, both world organizations with a Christian base that just like us they use the military analogy in a positive and peaceful way ».  Anyway, the organization has run to remove from its Facebook page a video presentation and images of the "army of gladiators."
