GAYLES.TV.- Looking at these images it is clear that we have not invented anything. These are women who loved other women, who kissed other women, who crossed intense and complicit looks with other women. And they were brave enough to do it before a camera more than a century ago. Probably some were captured with the system of the daguerreotype, the dark and mischievous camera and the timely click that stole a moment of intimacy for the story.
In most cases their authorship is anonymous, their rights have expired or are in the public domain. Some even have titles like "La donna delinquente" by 1915. A small compilation of delicious and in some cases surprising images that we collect here today.
- Image from "Wikipedia Commons". Two women supposedly outlawed, or at least so suggests the title of "The delinquent woman"
- Image of an anonymous author that represents two women in traditional Chinese dress, lovingly seated one on the other's lap. It comes from "Federal Archive of Germany"
- This photo of Swedish origin is titled "Outdoor Games at the Organ Festival in Falsterbo, 1922" and it comes from "Flickr Creative Common". And apparently they knew how to entertain themselves by playing ...
- A beautiful image where absolutely everything is suggestive: the posture, the look, the outfit. We love. It is dated 1900 and has been collected by Flickr Commons from the "Powerhouse Museum Collection"
- Little do we know about this couple who was surprised by the target cuddling on a hammock. It was taken in 1900 and its use is in the public domain. Comes from "Wikipedia Commons"
- A curious image of a passionate kiss between two women while the friend a little like she doesn't know where to look. Via "Flickr Creative Commons".
- And we end up with one that lacks a title but could well be called “Splendor in the grass”. A complicit hug reminiscent of "Celestial Creatures". Origin: "PhotoPin Creative Commons".
Images that provoke a pinch of nostalgia but also tend a bridge of complicity with those who could have been our grandmothers and who also felt and loved as today we love and feel. For them is our homage.
