Two Franciscans hang out for love and marry
GAYLES.TV.- Who was going to tell her Lucas Salvai, mayor of the small Italian town of Pinerolo, near Turin, who would end up marrying two former Franciscan nuns?
The ceremony put the finishing touch to the precious love story between the Italian Federica and Isabel, coming from South America, two women who in their day took the habits of the Franciscan order without imagining that destiny would end up uniting them forever after meeting on a pilgrimage trip.
In an interview "La Stampa" from Turin Federica stated: "We would like our Church to welcome all the people who love each other" and on a more personal level he added, "not only do I have to tell my father that I am no longer a nun, but I am very happy to have married Isabel". A great moment for Federica's father, frankly.
The marriage was to be officiated by the former priest Franco Barbero, excommunicated by the Vatican in the 2003 for his sympathies towards the LGTBI collective. Franco commented "it is not the first time that" case "to two nuns (...) I still feel a priest from head to toe." But finally it could not be and the office in charge of the mayor, had to be advanced one day to avoid the presence of curious to know that the date of the link had leaked to the press.
Anyway, Isabel and Federica are sure to have given thanks to God because in Italy this year gay marriage has finally been legalized. And from Gayles.tv we can not but rejoice very sincerely for their decision and wish them the best.
