The Mossos d'Esquadra They have arrested a 20-year-old and two minors for allegedly threatening and insulting a young homosexual for two years in Roses, Girona. The boy, of legal age, reported having continuously received insults and threats due to his sexual condition from a group of boys from the same town. It occurs a few days after the police arrested two men for a homophobic attack in the same province.

Three individuals were arrested on August 25 accused of a crime against fundamental rights and public freedoms and a crime of threats. Two more young people are investigated for the same facts.

Two years of insults and threats

The agents had been investigating the case for two months, after receiving the complaint last July. The victim recounted the episodes of verbal violence suffered during the last two years. The situation was repeated daily, even in the complainant's workplace and always referring to his sexual condition.

Following these events, the Catalan police began investigations to identify, locate and arrest the alleged perpetrators. The investigation bore fruit this Thursday when a 20-year-old man and two underage boys were arrested as perpetrators of the insults and threats. Statements have also been taken from two more people as being investigated for the same events.

The detainee of legal age spent August 26 at the disposition of the court of instruction of guardian of Figueres, who ordered their release with charges and the minors testified in the Girona Juvenile Prosecutor's Office.

The Mossos assure that the complaint «it has been crucial» for the investigation that has culminated in the arrests. From the body, they remember that crimes of hate and discrimination are «an expression of intolerance and contempt for difference» and that it is of special importance for the resolution of these cases that the victims report the facts to the police.
