Colin Farrell in favor of equal marriage

NEWS.-  Actor Colin Farrell has publicly called for people to vote for marriage equality  in the referendum that is scheduled to take place in Ireland next March. Five years ago it was approved that same-sex couples would be granted the right to establish their civil relationship, but the final consideration that such unions be recognized as marriage has been left in the hands of citizens.

It is known that Colin's brother Eamon Farrell is openly gay and that she married her partner Steven 5 years ago, but to do so she had to move to Canada. Speaking to the Sunday World, Colin said, “The fact that my brother had to leave Ireland in order to get married and make his dream come true seems crazy to me. That is why it is something that I feel so close to. It is time to balance the balance of justice, register and register to vote next year and so that the voices of each individual can be heard".

Colin deeply admires his brother for the dignity with which he faced, already in school, the jokes and mockery of his colleagues who in some cases even reached physical aggression. “I think I knew that my brother did not wallow in the mud of heterosexuality when he was about 12 years old. I remember being very surprised, intrigued. I was curious because it was unlike anything I had ever known or heard before, but it didn't seem unnatural to me. I just knew my brother liked men, but like I say, it didn't seem unnatural to me. My brother Eamon did not choose to be gay. Perhaps you chose to wear eyeliner to school and that was probably not the most pragmatic response to the daily torture you suffered at school. But He always felt proud to be who he was. Proud, challenging, and of course, provocative. Even when he was punched and exposed by others, despite the sneering and disgusting laughter, he maintained an integrity and a dignity that stood up to the cruelty he suffered.

Bravo for Colin, bravo for his brother and for all the families that unconditionally support theirs have the guidance they have.
