The LGTBI Center of Barcelona celebrates five years of life promoting the rights of the group in the city
In these last five years, the LGTBI Center of Barcelona It has hosted more than 2.000 activities and proposals, in which some 75.000 people have participated. This Friday, the center celebrates its five years of existence. In turn, he has offered 2.376 attentions free, through the reception service and, in this way, promoting the rights of the group LGTBIQ + through artistic creation.
During this five years, it has provided comprehensive care services and psychosocial support on an individual, group and family basis. These are information, guidance and first aid services, reception, legal advice, advice for trans people and psychological advice, aimed in a specialized way at people in the group and their entire environment.
Welcome, community, memory, participation, culture, reflection and celebration are the axes that summarize the center's activity and are reflected in the video with which it commemorates these years of activity and efforts directed at the community LGTBIQ +.
More than 17.700 consultations in the last 5 years
El LGTBI Center of Barcelona It has become an inclusive reference space in the city. In this period, the information and first reception service has received a total of 17.798 medical consultations. Some of the queries on which advice and specific attention is offered are doubts regarding gender transition, registration changes in official documents, situations of LGTBI-phobia, immigration and asylum procedures or demand for coverage of basic needs, among others.
Since its creation, the Trans and Non-Binary Group: a safe meeting space for people who are exploring their gender, based on mutual support and with which to generate bonds and accompany each other in transition processes. The group meets on the third Tuesday of each month and the meetings are always a success in attendance.
Throughout 2024, the facility will offer special programming as part of the fifth anniversary. Congratulations, Center!
