Carla Antonelli dedicates the Gold Medal of the Island of Tenerife to the LGTBIQ+ community: «I got emotional, I cried«
The senator and activist Carla Antonelli has dedicated to the collective LGTBIQ+ the Gold Medal of the Island of Tenerife which this Thursday granted him the Cabildo and claimed the “democratic memory so that barbarism, hatred and intolerance towards diversity never happen again” not even in Canary Islands nor in Spain.
"Thank you so much, I was moved when I found out, I cried. Suddenly, memories of these last 47 years came flooding back since the day I left my native Tenerife and Güímar, the forced exiles and the melancholy that takes over your life, the lives of all the LGTBIQ+ people who changed forever.”, she wrote on social media.
A medal full of pride and emotion
