The first edition of the Barcelona Pride Awards recognizes leaders in diversity and LGBTQ+ rights
Barcelona hosted the first edition of the Barcelona Pride Awards, an initiative launched by Pride Barcelona and the Catalan LGTBIQ+ Chamber to recognize individuals, organizations, and projects that stand out for their commitment to diversity, visibility, and the defense of LGBTQ + rights . The ceremony, held at the W Hotel, marks the beginning of a new event designed to highlight the work of those who contribute to building a more inclusive and equal society.
One of the night's biggest stars was Àngel Llàcer, honored with the Barcelona Pride Icon Award for his professional career and his contribution to normalizing diversity in the cultural and television spheres. The actor, director, and presenter received one of the gala's most prestigious awards, which also recognized figures such as the singer Mushkaa and the drag artist Sharonne for their contributions to the creativity and visibility of the LGBTQ+ community.
The first edition of the awards also paid tribute to those who have shaped the history of LGBTQ+ activism in Catalonia. In this regard, Jordi Petit received the Pride Barcelona Honorary Award for a lifetime dedicated to defending the rights and freedoms of the community. His recognition symbolizes the link between new generations and those who led the early fight for equality, an idea that was very much present at a gala that combined celebration, remembrance, and advocacy.
Valentín Roma was also recognized with the Compromís amb l'Orgull Award, Lucas Platero with the Educació en Diversitat Award and Dr. Clotet with the Scientific Research and LGBTQIA+ Award.
