The suspect appears at the Irun police station after leaking his identity and image
El alleged serial killer from Bilbao who used a gay dating app as bait. Nelson David, MB, presented himself yesterday Thursday afternoon voluntarily at an Ertzaintza police station. The 25-year-old Colombian denied the accusations and was willing to collaborate with the investigators. There was an arrest warrant for him from a court of instruction in Bilbao. The alleged murderer has denied his participation in the events of which he is accused and has said that he has found out from the media.
Throughout the day yesterday both the identity of the suspect and his image were leaked, which has been key in his decision to surrender. Sources of the investigation indicate that the young man indicated that he was presenting himself because he had been seen in the media as the author of the alleged murders, so that he had decided "to collaborate".
The Bilbao investigating court has opened two homicide procedures linked to the alleged murders of men after meeting with the suspect through a contact app. ANDThe detainee has a history of fraud and assault, and has resided in the the Basque Country, at least sporadically, since 2019.
Two cases in Bilbao facilitate the investigation
The investigation continues under summary secret, and it is unclear how many deaths are linked to each of the two open proceedings. The number of crimes behind which the suspect could be remains one of the great unknowns of the investigation. The case involves the deaths of men whose deaths were initially linked to natural causes, and the use of liquid ecstasy to achieve his chemical submission has been able to play a key role.
Investigators are tracking down, one by one, all the men the suspect dated on the dating app. wapo to check, first of all, if they are alive. If they had died, the Ertzaintza analyzes under what conditions the death occurred and if the body was cremated or buried.

The second thread of the investigation was the complaint, in December, of a man who, after meeting the suspect, reported an attempted strangulation. The aggressor forgot his backpack with documentation and liquid ecstasy in his flight. In order to avoid consequences, the suspect would have tried to recover the victim's complicity after the attack, contacting him again and apologizing. The victim went ahead and filed his complaint with the Basque police, which has been a key point in this case.
