GAYLES, TV.- The Mossos d'Esquadra Two men have been arrested as alleged perpetrators of a homophobic assault. The two detainees are a man of 30 years and another of 28, both neighbors of Lleida and of Ukrainian nationality. The events occurred on the afternoon of Sunday at 17 hours on a terrace of the Magdalena street de Lleida. Two men, with signs of a drunken state, rebuked a couple of men for their sexual orientation.
When the victims reproached the attackers for their attitude, they were violently attacked with kicks and punches. Witnesses at the scene tried to stop the attack. Citizen collaboration was key for the agents to locate and arrest the aggressors in the Sant Joan de Lleida Square, close to the scene of the assault.
The two victims were cared for by the System d'Emergències Mèdiques (SEM) and a unit of the Mossos d'Esquadra in the place of aggression. The two assailants were arrested as alleged perpetrators of an injury crime and a hate crime. The detainees, one of them with a record, will shortly go before the investigative court acting as guard of Lleida.
