NEWS.- Today they are fulfilled 10 years of the approval of a law that supposed a gigantic step in the rights of the LGTB families, the Law 3 / 2005 of the Parlament of Catalonia that allows the joint adoption to the couples of gays and lesbians.
This law has meant equalizing all children in Catalonia in rights. Things that seem to us as common today as the fact of being able to sign a permit to go on a field trip or pick them up at the exit of class and others not so banal as being able to put the two surnames of the couple to their descendants or that the creatures to recognize their inheritance rights or to enjoy health benefits regardless of whether they have two parents or two mothers. The law also protects their rights in case of separation of their parents. In short, what is celebrated today is that 10 makes years that everyone, without exception, can enjoy their parents and legal mothers to 100%, when until then only one member of the pair legally consisted as such.
Also from that moment, lesbian and gay couples have been able to adopt directly as a couple and the creatures born of lesbian mothers have seen the two mothers recognized in the family book.
But the laws are a dead letter if they do not profoundly affect the transformation of society and today more than ever, we must continue to watch to eradicate any form of homophobia, especially in the field of education. Homophobic bullying is no joke and it affects not only those who feel gay or lesbian but also members of homoparental families. We must increase vigilance in the face of these facts and the resources to include affective-sexual diversity and family diversity in education.
Little by little and in the course of these years the presence of all types of families in our society has normalized, but we must not forget that the achievement of this achievement was years of effort and struggle by LGTB entities, political parties and other members from the civil society gave their support. We especially want to name here the task of "FLG Associació de Famílies Lesbianes i Gais" which since its inception in November 2001 has not ceased to work for the legalization and integration of all forms of family.
